Oslo, Norway (2021-2024)

The staircase serves as a new connection between the first floor and the basement of a historic 1924 apartment building in Sagene, Oslo. After navigating several discussions with the city, we successfully obtained a permit to expand the relatively compact first-floor apartment by utilizing the basement's footprint, which had previously been designated solely for storage. This expansion allowed us to create a new living space, bedroom, and bathroom on the lower level.

In this transformation, the staircase became a distinctive piece of furniture within the interior. It harmoniously integrates with the clients' style and commitment to genuine materials. Thoughtfully designed and crafted from 100% plywood, the staircase not only enhances functionality but also elevates the overall aesthetic of the space.
